EFT and Thanksgiving
by Kay Christopher, MA, EFTCert-II, Certified EFT Practitioner
There
are many possibilities for using EFT over the Thanksgiving
holiday---or any time you want to experience more
gratitude. Holidays tend to be times of more intense
emotion, both positive and negative. So, you can use EFT to
address the negative feelings you may experience, and you
can also use it to reinforce feelings of gratitude. And, of
course, you can do this not just at Thanksgiving, but
during the whole
holiday
season.
You may have noticed that simply focusing on gratitude
tends to lead to an improved emotional state. It makes you
feel good! It also has a way of opening you to having more
positive experiences in life. So here is a way to use EFT
to uplift your emotions: Tap about what you are thankful
for!
Simply tap as you make positive statements. You can use the
EFT shortcut which includes:
EB: Eyebrow
SE: Side of eye
UE: Under eye
UN: Under nose
CH: Chin
CB: Collarbone
UA: Under arm
TH: Top of head
(See http://www.eft-austin.com/howtodoeft/index.html for
full instructions if you are new to EFT.)
Most people skip the setup procedure when doing
thankfulness tapping, ( the "Even though I have this
problem I deeply and completely love, forgive and accept
myself" phrase) but you can certainly use it if you like.
It doesn't seem to be necessary when focusing on gratitude,
although it is important to use it for all other issues.
Move from tapping point to tapping point as you express
thankfulness. Here are some examples:
EB: I am thankful for my physical body----that I can see,
taste, touch, smell and hear.
SE: I am thankful that in the U.S. we have a whole day set
aside each year to focus on giving thanks (what a great
idea!).
UE: I am thankful that I have good food to eat and a
comfortable place to sleep.
UN: I am thankful for the people in my life who have helped
me improve myself and my life.
CH: I am thankful to live in a country where there we enjoy
as much freedom as we do.
CB: I am thankful for the sun, moon and stars.
UA: I am thankful for my friends and family and how much I
have learned from each person.
TH: I am thankful for my own ability to learn, grow and
change.
After a round or two of thankfulness tapping you will
probably find yourself feeling happier and more joyful. Use
words that express specifically what you
are
thankful for.
Here's a way to take this idea a little further. There are
three words which have slightly different "vibrations" but
which all can lead to improved emotional states. These
words are: "thankfulness", "gratitude", and "appreciation".
You can use any of these words in conjunction with tapping
on your acupuncture meridians. These three words might mean
the same thing for you, or they might each have a little
different meaning. It can be interesting to experiment with
doing one entire EFT round with each of the three words and
note your experience.

THANK YOU very much for sharing my interest in and love for
EFT and being part of the community of people who are
helping to spread it around the world. Have a wonderful
Thanksgiving Holiday and remember to do plenty of tapping
to help make it even better!
