Hospital Stay Improved with EFT

by Kay Christopher, MA, EFTCert-II

A client recently had knee replacement surgery. We used EFT to deal with his anxiety in preparation for the surgery and he felt very calm and prepared the morning he went into the hospital. Things did not go quite as he had planned, however. He hoped to be home after three days but his hospital stay was extended to two weeks due to the need for physical therapy. In addition, he caught pneumonia while there. There were many occasions to feel anxiety over those two weeks but he remembered to use EFT and his experience was amazingly positive.

“It was supremely helpful to be frustrated and tap and let go of the frustration—so I never got down in the dumps in the hospital. The physical therapists all liked me because I would do my best and I always had a smile for them. EFT is responsible for that. I could have moped around because my plans were changed, my time-table was gone. I let go of all that. After tapping it was, “So? I still deeply love, forgive and accept myself.” It was so helpful to be able to get to that place.

“I learned at the physical therapy hospital, when they were doing therapy on my leg, that I could attack anxiety one-on-one and defeat it. So I wasn’t intimidated. I just tapped and got rid of it.”

His oxygen level was 85-88% so he had oxygen tubes up his nose. The tubes were wrapped around his ears and made blisters on them, and his made him feel very frustrated and anxious. So one evening he decided to use EFT on the frustration and anxiety and they faded away. The next morning his oxygen level was 97-99% and the nurse took the tubes away. He believes there is a strong likelihood that EFT improved his oxygen level.

When his wife left his bedside at the end of the day and he was all alone he would be left with high anxiety. He remembered to use EFT. “The anxiety left just like my wife left—almost like the anxiety had been sitting in the chair and was gone.”

I just got off the phone with him. When I called he was lying in bed and his knee pain was a 6-7. We got it down to a 1 and then also tapped for being pain free when he stood up to walk around. He just called me back to let me know he’s been walking through several rooms in his house both with and without his walker and he is pain free.
